| FRESHMAN -Get involved with the Cal Poly Accounting Club (CPAC) if possible. -Take the required accounting (214, 215) classes to see if they are what you like. -Plan your graduation so that you will have 225 quarter units at least.
SOPHOMORE -Join the Cal Poly Accounting Club if not yet. Consider running for a board position. -Consider joining Student Accounting Advisory Council (SAAC) to get experience. -Get to know recruiters for each of the firms. Whether public accounting firms, industry, or government. -Watch out for summer leadership programs.
JUNIOR -Stay active in the Cal Poly Accounting Club. Consider a board position. -Consider joining Student Accounting Advisory Council to get involved. -Interview for summer internships from January to March (Winter quarter).
SENIOR -If applicable, Interview for full time positions from October to December (Fall quarter). -Stay active in the clubs that you have become a part of. -Senior project may be VITA or accounting research project or anything else. -Start looking at the CPA exam.
